One or more mounting points of various types are easily added or modified by double-clicking "Inputs >> Layers" in the Sherlock Project Tree for a given CCA to display the Layer Viewer. Once displayed, select "Edit >> Edit Mount Points" from the menu bar in the Layer Viewer. At that point, the "Mount Point Editor" buttons will appear in the bottom tool bar of the Layer Viewer. To create a new mount point, right-click anywhere in the Layer Viewer content window and select "Add Mount Point" from the pop-up menu. In the resulting dialog, select the desired mount point properties and press "Save" to add the mount point. You can select an existing mount point by holding the Shift button and left-clicking inside the mount point. Other selection methods are explained in the information displayed by the "Help" button.

Sherlock v3.0 supports four types of mount points: Mount Hole, Support Pin, Standoff and Mount Pad. A Mount Hole is modeled by a collection of constrained nodes on the PCB surface. A drill hole can be used to define a Mount Hole by left-clicking the hole while in the Mount Point Editor. Left-clicking it again will delete the Mount Hole. (See the Vibration Analysis tutorial for some Mount Hole examples.) A Support Pin is modeled as a single constrained node on the PCB surface. A Standoff is modeled as a collection of elements with a specified height and material that is attached to one side of the PCB and is constrained by the center node of the face furthest from the PCB. A Mount Pad is modeled as a collection of elements with a specified height and material that is attached to one side of the PCB and is constrained by all nodes on the face furthest from the PCB.
