Capacitor with Flex-Termination

Post by VTiederle » 19 Sep 2016, 03:02

Sherlock can predict the behavior of solder fatigue with respect to the design and material of components.
This works very well for standard termination of resistors and capacitors.
Due to mitigation of capacitor cracking there are solutions with advanced terminations e.g. with special underlayer of the metall termination. Sherlock can identify these types by interpretation of the manufacturer's part number.
This kind of design should have also an influence to the solder fatigue of that component. Is the flex termination part of the calculation algorithm? If yes, how do you implement the different solution of different manufacturer?

I'm not sure if this was addressed offline, but for future reference: flex termination is not incorporated in the algorithm, but it can be accounted for by manipulating the necessary material properties.

That is good news.
Can you give some advices how to make it.
Thank you for your assistance.
