Interpretation of displacement / strain values

Post by VTiederle » 02 Sep 2016, 02:32

Are there any general guide line what figures could be critical in an application?
That if the calculated displacement/strain is greater than x than this could cause problems.

Hi Viktor, sorry for the late reply. It is very difficult to use displacements as a critical metric. We see this quite a bit with components mounted next to screws where the displacements are small but the bending strains are large. This is why Sherlock utilizes strain as the critical metric. It depends on the regime (shock or vibration) but I start investigating further when the strains are getting about 300 ue.
